Dell Inspiron 546s

$489.00 Released June, 2009

Product Shot 1 The Pros:Slim design takes up minimal space on the desk. Nice bright color contrasting with the black, looks cool. Enough graphics processing power for many modern games at medium settings.

The Cons:Power cables often are missed during shipping. Not a lot of room to upgrade any of the components. RAM is limited to DDR2 speeds, which causes a little bottlenecking in high-demand applications.

The Dell Inspiron 546s is a mid-range desktop PC. It is designed for use with more demanding applications (such as gaming, HD video, etc). It features the choice of four AMD processors, an integrated ATI Radeon HD3200 graphics card, and a 640GB harddrive.

There are four AMD processors for the consumer to choose from: the AMD Sempron (for low end users), the AMD AthlonX2 (for mid-range users), the AMD PhenomX3 (for higher mid-range users), and the AMD PhenomX4 (for high end users). The four processors allow a customer to choose the one best suited to them. The higher end the processor is, the more tasks it can handle at once.  The ATI Radeon HD3200 graphics card enables a user to play resource-demanding PC games, as well as high definition video content with ease. The 640GB harddrive allows a user to store a large amount of data, making it perfect for programs with large (or a large amount of) files. When compared to another Dell desktop PC, the Inspiron 560s, the Inspiron 546s lacks in some major areas, such as processing power, and amount/type of RAM. It does however, feature a superior graphics card compared to the default models of the Inspiron 560s.
