Dell Vostro 430

$700.00 Released October, 2009

Product Shot 1 The Pros:Stable operation, can work day in and out without needing a reboot. Keyboard and mouse have a solid feel, good responsiveness from the keys and buttons. Lots of room in the case for expansion in the future.

The Cons:Not many graphics card options, unsuitable for graphics processing jobs or gaming. Whining from the Intel Core i7 processor is fairly loud. Full version of Office 2010 installed on a hidden partition - just uses up space for those who already own a copy.

The Dell Vostro 430 is a mid-tower desktop released in October 2009 as a replacement to the Vostra 420. The base model features an Intel Core i5-750 processor (2.66GHz), 1GB of DDR3 RAM (up to 4GB), and an 80GB SATA-II hard-disc drive (up to 1TB).

More powerful i7-860 or i7-870 processors are available as well. Overall, the Vostro 430 is especially geared towards small/mid-size businesses, but does offer either an ATI Radeon HD 4350 (512MB) or nVidia GeForce GTS240 (1GB) for users seeking entertainment value — as in high-definition movies and games. As of October 2009, the 430 is scheduled to retail with Windows Vista, but a free Windows 7 upgrade may be available after the 22nd. Additional features include integrated 5.1-channel audio, an optional 19-in-1 media reader, an optional 16x DVD burner or Blu-ray writer, and an optional flat panel monitor up to 24”.
